How to bridge to Arc

A step-by-step guide to bridging USDC onto Circle's Arc chain via CCTP and Gateway, plus a non-custodial route, receipt checks, and safety gotchas.
Bridging to Arc means moving USDC from a chain you already hold it on into Arc. Because Arc's gas is paid in USDC, the thing you bridge and the thing you pay fees with are the same asset — there is no separate gas token to hunt down first.
The short answer: get USDC onto a source chain in an EVM wallet, then move it to Arc using a Circle-native path (CCTP or Gateway) or a non-custodial bridge interface. You keep custody the whole way. Below is what each mechanism actually does, a step-by-step, how to confirm the funds landed, and the mistakes that cost people money.
One timing note before anything else. Arc's public testnet has been live since 28 October 2025, but mainnet does not open until 16 September 2026. As of today, 1 September 2026, any "bridge to Arc" you perform with real funds is either a testnet exercise or premature. Treat everything here as pre-mainnet guidance and re-check the official values at launch.
What you actually need before you start
Three things, no more. An EVM wallet — MetaMask is the common choice, and standard Ethereum tooling works because Arc runs an EVM execution layer. Some USDC on a source chain you already use (Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, and the other chains Circle's infrastructure covers). And a little extra USDC beyond the amount you intend to move, because the transaction itself costs gas — and on Arc, gas is denominated in USDC.
You do not need to acquire a native gas coin the way you would on most L1s. This is the single biggest way Arc differs in practice: fees are dollar-denominated and paid in USDC (18 decimals), with an EIP-1559-style base fee. If you have USDC on Arc, you can transact on Arc. The two Circle mechanisms, and what each one is
Circle offers two distinct ways to get USDC across chains, and they are not the same thing.
CCTP (Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol) moves USDC by burn-and-mint. The protocol burns your USDC on the source chain and mints an equal amount natively on the destination. There is no wrapped or bridged IOU token sitting in a lock-up contract — what arrives on Arc is canonical USDC. This is the mechanism most "bridge USDC" flows use under the hood.
Circle Gateway is different: it gives you a chain-agnostic USDC balance with liquidity rebalancing behind it, so you can spend from a unified balance rather than manually moving funds each time. Think of CCTP as a single transfer and Gateway as an account that spans chains. For a one-time move onto Arc, CCTP is the simpler mental model; Gateway matters more if you operate across several chains regularly. The non-custodial route via Meme Central's Bridge

Here is the general shape of a bridge, whichever interface you use:
- Open the bridge and connect your EVM wallet. Confirm the wallet is on the correct source network before doing anything else.
- Select your source chain and the token — USDC — and enter the amount. Leave headroom for gas on both ends.
- Set the destination to Arc. Verify the destination chain ID matches the official value: testnet is
5042002(confirmed); mainnet is1243per ChainList, though the official mainnet RPC and explorer were not yet published as of 1 September 2026. - Approve the token spend (a one-time allowance per token on most interfaces), then sign the bridge transaction itself. These are two separate signatures — read each one.
- Wait for confirmation. Circle-native routing finalizes on Arc quickly; Arc advertises sub-second (~780ms) finality once the mint lands.
How to confirm the funds actually arrived
Do not trust the interface's success screen alone. Confirm on-chain.
On testnet, paste your wallet address into the Arc explorer at https://testnet.arcscan.app and check that the USDC balance increased by the amount you sent. For mainnet, the official explorer URL had not been published as of 1 September 2026 — at launch, copy it from Arc's official documentation rather than from a search result or a link someone hands you. Once your USDC is on Arc, you have gas and capital in one asset and can move on to whatever you came to do — trading, providing liquidity, or launching. Gotchas that cost people money
Wrong network. The most common failed bridge is simply having the wallet on the wrong source chain, or sending to a chain ID that is not Arc. Check both before signing.
Not enough USDC for gas. If you bridge every last dollar, you land on Arc with a balance you cannot move because you have nothing to pay the fee with. Keep a buffer.
Unverified destination values. An RPC URL or "bridge" pasted by a stranger in a chat is a known drainer vector. Copy network settings only from https://docs.arc.io. Never add a custom RPC on someone's say-so.
Cloned interfaces. Scammers clone bridge front-ends pixel-for-pixel and buy ads on the exact keyword you searched. Only bridge through interfaces you already trust and have reached by a bookmark or a link you control — not through a search ad or a DM. Verify the domain in the address bar every single time.
A safety note worth repeating: bridging is one of the highest-value targets in crypto precisely because it moves liquid, spendable USDC. Slow down at the signature screen.
